Decrease Stomach Acid With This Home Remedies

Stomach acids are helpful for our food digestion but too much of these acids will make you uncomfortable. Some of these bad conditions are the acid reflux or heartburn and the disease experts call as gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD. This conditions might be caused by eating too quickly without chewing the food properly. Obese and pregnant people might also experience such conditions.

With that in mind, how do we cure or decrease these stomach acids?

1. Drink chamomile tea.

This has been used for thousands of years as a remedy for indigestion as they help reduce the inflammation in our stomach.

2. Use slippery elm.

Elm barks contains mucilage which is a substance that becomes slick gel when combined with water. This gel will cover your esophagus, stomach and intestinal lining to reduce acid reflux. With the antioxidant present in the elm, it can also help reduce stomach ulcers. You can purchase this in over-the-counter drugstores and they are available in capsules, lozenges and teas.

3. Take ginger.

They are good in helping to reduce the symptoms of nausea, vomiting and inflammation caused by the acid backing to your esophagus. Take 1-2 grams of raw or powdered ginger at least an hour before meals to help aid gastric emptying thus reducing heartburn.

4. Use baking soda.

Sodium bicarbonate or baking soda has its natural antacid which helps neutralize stomach acids and helps you in food proper food digestion. You may take baking soda in a form of oral tables or powder four times daily at least 1-2 hours after meal. But remember not to take it on an overly full stomach. This should not be given to children below twelve years of age.

5. Chew a gum.

Chewing sugar-free gum for about half an hour before meal will help stimulate the production of saliva. Saliva is an alkaline that is swallowing it will help neutralize your stomach acid, reducing heartburn.
